Cat-Themed Memecoins Surge, Popcat Crosses $1 Billion
While dog-themed memecoins like Dogecoin and Pepe have dominated the crypto space, cat-themed counterparts have recently gained traction and soared to impressive heights.
Popcat Breaks New Ground
Popcat, a cat-themed memecoin, has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first of its kind to surpass $1 billion in fully-diluted value (FDV) on Dexscreener. This feat was driven by a substantial purchase of nearly $630,000 from user Wiftardio.
Wiftardio's Portfolio
On-chain data reveals that Wiftardio's wallet contains a significant portfolio of memecoins, including $7.7 million worth of Dogwifhat, $2 million worth of Billy, and $5 million worth of Popcat.
Polymarket Bet Resolved
Wiftardio's purchase triggered the resolution of a Polymarket bet on which cat-themed memecoin would first reach the $1 billion FDV mark.
Denial of Market Manipulation
Despite accusations of market manipulation, Wiftardio denied any connection between their purchase and the betting market, stating that they were "simply ensuring the cat keeps popping!"
Current Market Status
Since surpassing the $1 billion mark, Popcat has retreated to a range between $900 million and $950 million, as per The Block's Popcat Price Page.
