Central Bank of Ireland Approves Crypto.com as VASP
The Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) has granted Crypto.com, a leading global cryptocurrency exchange, approval to operate as a virtual asset service provider (VASP) in the country.
This approval, announced on June 11, allows Crypto.com to expand its services in Ireland, including offering cryptocurrency-to-fiat exchanges and fiat wallets.
Crypto.com's President and Chief Operating Officer, Eric Anziani, emphasized the company's commitment to compliance and innovation. "We are excited to enhance our Irish offerings, providing consumers with the most comprehensive range of crypto products," he stated.
Crypto.com declined to provide specific details regarding the new services it can now offer in Ireland.
Ireland has now approved a total of 15 entities as VASPs, including U.S.-based Coinbase. The complete list of registered VASPs in Ireland includes prominent players like Ripple, Gemini, MoonPay, Paysafe, and others.
The CBI's approval of Crypto.com reflects Ireland's growing interest in the cryptocurrency industry. Major companies such as Coinbase, Ripple, and Gemini have established a presence in the country, seeking to comply with the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA).
Despite these developments, some companies like Circle Internet Financial have decided to return to the United States.
