The Shiba Inu meme cryptocurrency team recently took to the X social media platform to congratulate the community on International Dog Day, observed annually on August 26.
Animal welfare advocate Colleen Paige first celebrated the day in honor of her family's dog "Sheltie," who was adopted from an animal shelter on August 26.
On National Dog Day, individuals are encouraged to support dogs by adopting from local shelters, ensuring home safety, donating blankets and toys, sending dog-related gifts to loved ones, and more.
Page's website highlights her mission to promote awareness about dog rescue, appreciation for family dogs, and recognition of those that selflessly assist humans.
The cryptocurrency community has ample reasons to celebrate National Dog Day, with Dogecoin and Shiba Inu ranking among the largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization. Dogwifhat (WIF), Floki (FLOKI), and Bonk (BONK) also feature prominently within the top 100.
Dogecoin has its own unofficial holiday on April 20, but August 26 is considered particularly significant for canine meme coin enthusiasts, as it marks a day dedicated to honoring the four-legged companions that have inspired successful cryptocurrencies.
Many community members joined the Shiba Inu team in celebrating International Dog Day together.
