Dogecoin Price Surges as Meme Coins Transferred to Robinhood
Surge in Dogecoin Transfers to Robinhood and Large Wallet Activity
Data from Whale Alert reveals the transfer of a significant amount of Dogecoin (DOGE) to the popular trading platform Robinhood approximately ten hours ago. This transaction coincided with a nearly 5% increase in DOGE's price.
A notable transfer involved 120,000,000 DOGE, valued at $18,555,179 at the time of transfer.
Further Large Wallet Transactions
In addition to this transfer, significant outflows from another wallet have been observed over the past day. These include transactions totaling 506.4 million DOGE worth $71.1 million.
Further transactions to this wallet on May 16 and 17 amounted to 306.4 million DOGE valued at $47.5 million. This increased activity follows a week-long pause since the last transaction on May 9.
Dogecoin Price Surge and Billy Markus' Ironic Tweet
Following a substantial increase in Dogecoin's price, the meme coin rose by 4.45%, reaching $0.15676. The price movement exhibited a non-linear surge with three increases and two declines. After peaking, the price experienced a minor retreat, settling around $0.15438 at the time of writing.
In a separate development, Dogecoin co-founder Billy Markus, known as Shibetoshi Nakamoto on X app, posted a satirical tweet on artificial intelligence (AI). Markus posed a rhetorical question to his followers, referencing the movie "The Matrix," where humans are portrayed as being cultivated by machines in a simulated reality.
Markus' tweet humorously pondered, "How long do y'all think we have until AI takes over humanity?" His commentary reflects his well-known ironic perspective on crypto and technology topics.
