Dogecoin (DOGE) Founder Reacts to Kabosu Passing Away

Billy Markus, who collaborated with software engineer Jackson Palmer in 2013 to create the pioneering meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin, expressed his condolences on the X platform following the passing of the legendary Shiba Inu dog Kabosu on Friday.
DOGE Founder Comments on Kabosu's Passing
Kabosu, who gained internet fame as a meme in 2010, served as the inspiration for the Dogecoin creators and became the mascot of this original meme crypto.
Markus, known on X as Shibetoshi Nakamoto, shared a post depicting Kabosu conversing with Death, where the dog acknowledges it's "time to go." She inquires if she "was a good girl," to which Death responds, "No. I'm told you were the best."
The meme community rallied around Markus, posting memes of Kabosu meeting Harambe, a gorilla that became a meme after its death in 2016.

Kabosu passed away at the age of 19 in Japan on Friday. Atsuko Sato, her owner, announced the sad news on her blog. The official Dogecoin account on X shared her post with the meme coin community.
Elon Musk's Impact on DOGE
Elon Musk, a prominent Dogecoin advocate, also paid tribute to Kabosu in a tweet on Friday. DOGE and another popular meme coin, Shiba Inu (SHIB), experienced brief surges in response to the centibillionaire's tweet. Musk suggested that Kabosu "ascended to heaven" to meet Harambe, the gorilla that captured the hearts of the internet community and became a meme in 2016. The gorilla was fatally shot by a zoo employee after it grabbed a young boy who entered its enclosure.
While DOGE initially began as a joke and a parody of Bitcoin (the BTC code was used in its development), in the past 7-8 years, the meme coin has gained recognition from Elon Musk. His support has provided significant momentum, promoting its adoption as a payment option and transforming it from a mere meme into a legitimate digital currency.
Markus and Musk frequently interact on X, with Shibetoshi Nakamoto often expressing support for the X owner and his initiatives to transform the former Twitter into the ultimate "everything app," including the integration of the Grok AI chatbot.
