Dogecoin Proponent Elon Musk Reveals Why He Doesn’t Really Like Crypto

Elon Musk's Views on Cryptocurrency
Dogecoin Enthusiast, Bitcoin Skeptic
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and a leading advocate for Dogecoin (DOGE), recently expressed his skepticism towards Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
Musk stated during an appearance on the "X takeover" podcast that he would not be actively promoting crypto, at most "joking way." He added, "If you see me pumping crypto, it's not me," indicating a lack of support for most cryptocurrencies.
However, Musk acknowledged that there is "some merit" in Bitcoin and "some other cryptos."
Dogecoin Preference
In contrast, Musk expressed a fondness for Dogecoin, claiming he has a "soft spot" for it due to his love of "dogs and memes." He has previously revealed his ownership of DOGE and has frequently expressed support for the meme coin.
Laser-Eye Confusion
Musk's recent change of his social media profile picture to one depicting him with laser eyes had led to speculation that he was becoming bullish on Bitcoin, especially given his association with Donald Trump, who has also become more vocal in his support of the cryptocurrency.
However, Musk's latest statements suggest that he remains a skeptic of Bitcoin and most other cryptocurrencies beyond Dogecoin.
Bitcoin's Uncertain Status
Musk has previously stated that he is "neither here nor there" on Bitcoin, and his current stance appears to remain unchanged. Tesla briefly accepted Bitcoin payments for car purchases in 2021, but reversed the decision three months later due to concerns about its environmental impact.
Musk has said that Tesla will consider accepting Bitcoin again if it can be verified that mining operations are using over 50% clean energy, but this has yet to occur.
