US Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris Embraces Crypto and AI
Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has broken her silence on cryptocurrency, signaling her support for investment in both digital assets and artificial intelligence (AI).
"We will foster innovation in technologies like AI and digital assets while safeguarding consumers and investors," Harris stated at a fundraising event in Manhattan. "I envision collaboration among labor, entrepreneurs, innovators, and corporations. Together, we will invest in America's competitiveness and future."
Industry Experts Praise Harris's Statement
Experts within the cryptocurrency industry have responded positively to Harris's comments.
Faryar Shirzad, policy chief at Coinbase, characterized Harris's statement as "important and constructive." While recognizing the potential for digital asset innovation, Shirzad noted that Harris's stance appeared less progressive compared to Republican candidate Donald Trump's enthusiastic support for crypto.
Alexander Grieve, government affairs vice president at Paradigm, also expressed encouragement. He believes the outcome of the election will benefit the emerging crypto industry by ending "the last anti-crypto administration."
Harris Gains Momentum on Polymarket
Harris's pro-crypto stance has seemingly bolstered her chances of winning the election on the decentralized betting platform Polymarket. In the past 24 hours, her odds have increased by 1%, adding to a 5% gain over the past month. Trump's odds, on the other hand, have remained unchanged.
As of now, Polymarket bettors assign a 52% chance of Harris emerging victorious in November, compared to Trump's 47% probability.
