Despite a downturn in the cryptocurrency market, some meme coins have experienced significant growth. AI16Z, a standout in the fourth quarter of 2024, reached a $2 billion market capitalization and entered the top 70 altcoins.

AI16Z and Pepe Coin Lead Surge

AI16Z has emerged as the top daily performer in the top 100 coins. Following a 43% surge, its valuation surpassed $2 billion. <="" p="">

Over the past 24 hours, AI16Z, which debuted on Solana's Pump.fun platform, has also seen a surge in trading volume. In the past week alone, the token has gained over 150%, defying market sentiment and the decline in meme coin values.

At the time of writing, AI16Z is trading at $1.85 on Gate.io and KuCoin, the first major exchanges to list the meme coin.

Pepe (PEPE), another prominent meme coin, has also recorded double-digit gains, rising by 18% on December 31, 2024. Pepe has re-entered the top 25 cryptocurrencies and reached $0.00002077 in USDT pairs on major exchanges.

Floki Inu (FLOKI), Dogecoin (DOGE), and Shiba (SHIB) have all witnessed gains of 4-5% over the past 24 hours.

Intellectual Property Concerns for AI16Z

While AI16Z is not affiliated with Andreessen Horowitz, its substantial market cap has sparked discussions about potential trademark violations.

Haseeb Qureshi, a partner at Dragonfly Capital, expressed concerns after the AI16Z team announced an ambitious roadmap with L1 aspirations.

"Does @ai16zdao not violate a16z's trademark?" Qureshi tweeted. "It felt like a parody but now seems more serious."

AI16Z DAO representatives have stated that they are in contact with Andreessen Horowitz executives and do not anticipate any trademark issues.
