Mt. Gox Transfers $172.5 Million in Bitcoin Amidst New Price Highs
Less than 24 hours after Bitcoin reached a record-breaking $107K, the defunct crypto exchange Mt. Gox transferred approximately $172.5 million worth of Bitcoin to unidentified wallets.
Mt. Gox Transfers Details
According to on-chain data from Arkham Intelligence, Mt. Gox moved 1,691.6 Bitcoins to two anonymous addresses on December 17th.
The transfer consisted of two transactions: one for 1,427.9 Bitcoins and the other for 191.7 Bitcoins. The majority of the larger amount was deposited into a wallet beginning with "1DeY."
Unclear Motivations
The reasons behind these recent transfers remain unclear. However, previous Mt. Gox movements have sometimes signaled creditor payouts.
Market Response
Despite these latest transfers, Bitcoin continues to trade above $100,000, indicating that investors are not overly concerned about Mt. Gox's actions.
Crypto ETF Inflows Continue
US spot Bitcoin ETFs experienced a 12-day streak of inflows, with investors adding $636.9 million to these products on December 16th. BlackRock's IBIT contributed significantly with $418.2 million in inflows, increasing its total holdings to over 36,301 BTC.
