Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse recently criticized Dogecoin, the largest meme coin, during his appearance at Consensus.
"I believe Dogecoin has not contributed positively to the industry. I'm not opposed to Dogecoin, but its use case remains unclear."
Garlinghouse emphasized the importance of utility across different blockchains. He previously expressed skepticism about Dogecoin's usefulness, stating that "other than Elon Musk's influence, I don't see its purpose."
Garlinghouse's remarks drew backlash from the Dogecoin community. Co-founder Billy Markus argued that it is essentially similar to Bitcoin, with minor differences like its mascot and parameters.
Earlier this month, Garlinghouse faced criticism from Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino after suggesting that the stablecoin was under scrutiny by the US government. Garlinghouse later clarified that his comments were not intended to attack Tether.

Garlinghouse has also expressed optimism about the SEC approving ETFs for altcoins, including XRP. He believes that regulatory clarity is crucial for the industry's growth.
