Ripple Partners with National Bank of Georgia to Digitize Payments
Blockchain payment provider Ripple Labs and the National Bank of Georgia are collaborating to launch an innovative payment solution that combines blockchain technology with traditional finance.
According to Antony Welfare, a Ripple advisor, Ripple's Vice President James Wallis and EPAM Systems' Alistair Brown are in discussions with the National Bank of Georgia (NBG). Their focus is on exploring collaboration opportunities to digitize Georgia's economy.
Ripple's involvement stems from its selection as the technological partner for NBG's pilot project on its central bank digital currency (CBDC), the Digital Lari. Ripple emerged as the preferred choice after a rigorous evaluation process involving nine companies.
Ripple and NBG will work together to launch a pilot program using Ripple's CBDC Platform. The platform will assess potential use cases for the Digital Lari, evaluating its benefits for the public sector, businesses, and retail consumers.
