Robinhood Reports Crypto Growth and Expansion
In its end-of-year report, Robinhood Crypto highlights its achievements and growth in 2024. Despite regulatory challenges, the platform expanded its global reach and increased its crypto offerings.
Key Highlights:
- Notional trading volume of $119 billion
- $38 billion in crypto assets under custody (as of November 2024)
- Expanded services to all 50 U.S. states and territories
- Increased cryptocurrencies available in the U.S. to 20, including SOL, PEPE, and WIF
- Launched new trading API for U.S. users
- Added 14 new coins for European customers, bringing the total supported assets to 40
- Introduced SOL and ETH staking for European users
Crypto Wallet Enhancements:
- Launched the crypto wallet on Android
- Added advanced swapping features on Ethereum-based networks (Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, Base)
- Redesigned token discovery tab for improved usability
Regulatory Scrutiny:
Despite its growth, Robinhood faced regulatory challenges. In May 2024, the SEC issued a Wells Notice alleging securities law violations. However, the SEC has not yet filed a lawsuit, and Robinhood's crypto business has continued to perform well.
